Cast on and setup row

Color A
  • Cast on: A multiple of 6, + 1.
  • Setup row: Knit.

Main Pattern

Color B
  • Row 1 – Right side: Slip 1, *knit 5 stitches wrapping the yarn twice around the needle for each stitch, slip 1; work from * to end.
  • Row 2 – Wrong side: Slip 1, *slip 5 stitches purlwise to right needle dropping extra loops, slip these 5 stitches back to left needle, (purl 1, yarn over, purl 1, yarn over, purl 1) into all 5 stitches together, slip 1; work from * to end.
Color A
  • Row 3: Knit 1, *knit 5, knit next stitch with the loose strand behind; work from * to last 6 stitches, knit 6.
  • Row 4: Knit.
Color B
  • Row 5: Slip 4, *knit 5 stitches wrapping the yarn twice around the needle for each stitch, slip 1; work from * to last 3 stitches, slip 3.
  • Row 6: Slip 4, *slip 5 stitches purlwise to right needle dropping extra loops, slip these 5 stitches back to left needle, (purl 1, yarn over, purl 1, yarn over, purl 1) into all 5 stitches together, slip 1; work from * to last 3 stitches, slip 3.
Color A
  • Row 7: Knit 4, *knit 5, knit next stitch with the loose strand behind; work from * to last 9 stitches, knit 9.
  • Row 8: Knit.

Repeat rows 1–8.
