How to make the Knit 1 under the loose strand (K1 uls)

  1. Insert the right needle into the front of the work, under the loose strand.
  2. Insert the tip of the right needle into the front loop of the next stitch on the left needle, from left to right.
  3. Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the needle.
  4. Pull the yarn through the stitch and out from under the loose strand.
  5. Slide the stitch off the left needle to complete the K1 ULS.

Cast on and Setup rows

Color A

  • Cast on: A multiple of 4, + 1.
  • Row 1: Knit.
  • Row 2: Purl.
  • Row 3: Knit.
  • Row 4: *P1, sl3 wyib; rep from * to last st, p1.

Color B

  • Row 1 – Right side: *Sl1 wyib, k3; rep from * to last st, sl1 wyib.
  • Row 2: *Sl1 wyif, p3; rep from * to last st, sl1 wyif.
  • Row 3: *Sl1 wyib, k3; rep from * to last st, sl1 wyib.
  • Row 4: *Sl1 wyif, p3; rep from * to last st, sl1 wyif.

Color A

  • Row 5: *K2, k1 uls, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 6: P2, *p1, sl3 wyib; rep from * to last 3 sts, p3.

Color B

  • Row 7: K2, *sl1 wyib, k3; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl1 wyib, k2.
  • Row 8: P2, *sl1 wyif, p3; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl1 wyif, p2.
  • Row 9: Knit.
  • Row 10: Purl.

Color A

  • Row 11: K2, *k2, k1 uls, k1; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
  • Row 12: *P1, sl3 wyib; rep from * to last st, p1.

Repeat rows 1–12.
