How to make the Knit 1 under the loose strands (K1 ULS)

  1. Insert the right needle into the front of the work, under the loose strand(s).
  2. Insert the right needle knitwise into the front loop of the next stitch on the left needle.
  3. Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the needle.
  4. Pull the yarn through the stitch and out from under the loose strands.
  5. Slide the stitch off the left needle to complete the K1 ULS.

Worked Flat

Cast on a multiple of 10, + 9.

  • Row 1 – Right side: Knit 2, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 7 stitches, slip 5 wyif, knit 2.
  • Row 2 and all wrong side rows: Purl all stitches.
  • Row 3: Knit 2, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 7 stitches, slip 5 wyif, knit 2.
  • Row 5: Knit 2, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 7 stitches, slip 5 wyif, knit 2.
  • Row 7: Knit 2, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 7 stitches, slip 5 wyif, knit 2.
  • Row 9: Knit 4, *knit 1 uls, knit 9; work from * to last 5 stitches, knit 1 uls, knit 4.
  • Row 11: Knit 7, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
  • Row 13: Knit 7, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
  • Row 15: Knit 7, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
  • Row 17: Knit 7, *slip 5 wyif, knit 5; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
  • Row 19: Knit 9, *knit 1 uls, knit 9; work from * to end.

Repeat rows 1–20.
