How to knit the Knit 4 below

  1. Insert the right needle into the front of the next stitch on the left needle that is 4 rows down from the stitch you are about to work on.
  2. Let the stitch drop off the left needle and unravel down 4 rows.
  3. Wrap the yarn counterclockwise as normal, then pull the new loop through the stitch and under the 4 loose strands, making it look like they were knit together.

Color A

  • Cast on: A multiple of 4, + 3.
  • Row 1: Knit.
  • Row 2: Purl.
  • Row 3: Knit.
  • Row 4: Purl.
  • Row 5: Knit.
  • Row 6: Purl.

Main Pattern

Color B

  • Row 1: Knit 3, *knit 4 below, knit 3; work from * to end.
  • Row 2: Purl.
  • Row 3: Knit.
  • Row 4: Purl.
  • Row 5: Knit.
  • Row 6: Purl.

Color A

  • Row 7: Knit 1, *knit 4 below, knit 3; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 4 below, knit 1.
  • Row 8: Purl.
  • Row 9: Knit.
  • Row 10: Purl.
  • Row 11: Knit.
  • Row 12: Purl.

Repeat rows 1–12.
